I am so excited to share these photos from my shoot with the insanely talented Marcelo!

We spent the day snapping photos while lingering train tracks and twirling by the Los Angeles River. If Marcelo sounds familiar, it’s because we shot RV Vibes together a while back. He’s one of my favorite photographers to work with and his lighting is impeccable. This day was one for the books and a great way to wrap my time in LA.

Some of you saw this shoot unfold on Snapchat (add me at BessByers) and if you’re not, follow Marcelo on Instagram. Want more? Peep us on Arsenic! FYI: Some of these contain a little more booty…

Styling by moi.

I posted this dress almost four years ago (in case any of you longtime readers noticed) but it’s such a favorite, I’m bringing back this floral number.

What other dress could pair so perfectly for Palm Springs? Leaving town conveniently around golden hour, I made a pitstop at this geological gem for a few Fashion Friday photos. Enjoy!

Dress: Vintage Montgomery Ward
Sandals: Isabel Marant
Sunnies: Ray-Ban*

*I actually found these in my driveway while living in Venice. They’re a perfect fit and definitely authentic. Maybe this is karma for all the times I dealt with drunks, druggies and defecation?

Fashion Friday: MADE to Shop

Fashion-Friday---MADE

A quick couple snaps for Fashion Friday.

I volunteered at the MADE Cafe yesterday but kept thinking about our resale boutique. Don’t get me wrong, I love the cafe, but after seeing the resale boutique’s recent Instagram posts, I couldn’t wait to scope their latest goodies. A vintage Stetson hat caught my eye, but when I spotted this leather backpack, knew it screamed my style. Only $30 for this beauty!

If you’re DTLA and looking for vintage clothes with a cause, check out the MADE Resale Boutique on 3rd and Los Angeles. They have an amazing selection of brands, and all proceeds benefit the Downtown Women’s Center. I also snagged this Monrow romper as an impulse buy. Other fashions you’ll find at MADE? I spotted some beautiful Chole sandals yesterday, my mom scored a pair of Chanel pumps and I hit the jackpot with a green YSL jacket.

When you fuse fashion and philanthropy, you not only look good, you feel good!

Romper: Monrow
Backpack: Vintage
Sunnies: Louis Vuitton
Sandals: Purchased in Mexico

I know what you’re thinking, “Political princess? Really Bess?”

No, I’m not that self-absorbed. It’s a nickname given by friends, because they know my passion for politics. I’m attending Reason’s Generation Independent event tomorrow night, so did a little outfit planning.

As a politically active Millennial, I don’t understand why my generation conforms to fashion trends set by our out-of-touch elders. If we want to make changes, let’s stop with the stereotypes. I want to make a name for myself, so why be anyone but my true self? Fashion included.

This post would not have been possible without some help. Thank you Val for letting me borrow this beautiful number. Thank you Adam for taking photos. Lastly, a huge thank you to Tom, my smart, hardworking and incredibly generous friend and business partner. Your car made this shoot! Not sure how an outfit post tops a Ferrari, unless AGE takes off and we charter a Gulfstream…

Outfit deets:

Top and Skirt: BCBG
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Clutch: Vintage
Jacket: Vintage
Sunnies: Ray-Ban
Earrings: Gift from Mendy (asking her the designer)
Ring: Gift from my mom
Lipstick: NARS‘ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Pop Life

Oh, and The Onion has some great news for conservatives.
