CrossFitSpo Fashion Friday

Friday, January 9th, 2015

A little CrossFit Fitspo meets Fashion Friday. Showing some love to my favorite box, CFSM, and two of my favorite athletic brands, Reebok and Under Armour.

I ordered my custom Reebok Nano 4.0’s in November, knowing I’d need a little motivation post-holidays. Needless to say, they’ve got me beasting squats and busting out burps!

As for Under Armour, I love a good compression short. Gotta keep everything in place while working out, and they make the best. I also traded up my Nike workout gloves for Under Armour’s, which have these cool gel grip and ventilation. A definite must for any female athlete. Callouses are cool, but your man doesn’t want to feel them.

Have you always wanted to try CrossFit, but too afraid to try? Looking to scope a new box? CrossFit Santa Monica is doing a friends drop-in free day tomorrow. If you’re my homie, hit me up. I’ll be attending the 11 AM class, and might even blow off some steam at 10 AM boxing too.

After all, swimsuit season never ends in LA!

Thanks to Shane for helping with these pics!!

Workout Wednesday: CrossFit Santa Monica

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014

You know those abs I keep Snapchatting? I didn’t get them from eating salads. Yeah, genetics help, but you know what’s really whipped me into shape? CrossFit Santa Monica.

I’ve always been athletic. Dance class, dance team and weights kept me fit. However, something changed my mid-20’s. I still worked out and ate healthy, but long office hours and socializing around drinks took a toll on my tummy. My then-boyfriend signed up for CrossFit and suggested I try it (genius move to get your girlfriend in shape). I completed my first WOD in March and have been hooked since. I’ve joined the “cult.”

WOD, AMRAP, OHS, KBS, T2B and HSPU are part of my lingo. Not only has CrossFit improved my physique, it’s made me stronger. I eat healthier. What I like most is the camaraderie of the gym. Everyone is supportive. No pressure to go RX (I’ll never clean 110, let’s be real). The owners, Carter and Kaj, are Navy Seals, which is especially motivating. I workout at CrossFit Santa Monica to have fun and get fit, all the new friends are an added bonus.

“Bess, what about injuries? Isn’t CrossFit dangerous?”

Life is dangerous. Lift responsibly. CrossFit Santa Monica has knowledgable coaches to teach proper technique.

Major thanks to CrossFit Santa Monica. You’ve given me that extra push to take my fitness to the next level. If you’re looking to join CrossFit, or just want to give it a try, drop in to CrossFit Santa Monica. Your first class is free!

A New Way to Namaste

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014

On Saturday, LA bloggers gathered poolside at Mr. C Beverly Hills to discover a new way to namaste.

We started the morning with a complimentary yoga class, followed by beverages from L.A. Juice and massages compliments of Mr. C Spa & Beauty. Popup shops featuring StyleFirm LA, Marrin Costello and Rebel West made for fun browsing.

What better way to spend a Saturday? The hotel offered us discounted brunch and all day use of the pool. Believe me, I took full advantage of the sun. My only complaint? Not enough sunscreen resulted in burned buns. Meh, I’ll take it.

A huge thank you to the brands who made this event happen. A definite favorite in my opinion. Fitness, food and fashion is a whole lotta fun. There will be two more events like this in the near future. If you’re interested in attending, please message me!

Wear Me Out

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

Between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s easy to fall off the fitness bandwagon. Luckily Wear Me Out offers fun and flattering workout apparel, that will motivate you to the gym throughout the holiday season.

Wear Me Out launched in 2008, inspired by the workout sensation Tae Bo, and lives by the mantra “sweat to live, live to play.” Their line features everything from sports bras and leggings to tees and maxi skirts. Upcoming holiday colors include Evergreen, Blue Ice, Acaii and Sundried Tomato. My personal favorite when it comes to workout apparel? Black.

I love how Wear Me Out sucks everything in. Their spandex is thick, unlike other apparel I’ve tried. It’s high quality and perfect for fitness meets function.

You can purchase Wear Me Out online, or at Cardio Barre gyms and select pilates and yoga studios nationwide.

Now if you don’t mind, after a good gym sesh I feel a little less guilty eating a few more Halloween sweets.
