Proud cousin moment! My cousin Kevin (AKA Kbong) crushed it with Stick Figure and Slightly Stoopid at last week’s Marymoor Park show.

So great to hear the guys perform again, especially in my home state. Thanks Kevin for tickets, and thank you Western Cultured for hooking both bands up with fat sacks of Super Lemon!

Who else was there to #LightUpTheMoment?

A couple snaps from my day with Dad. He gave some really good advice.

It’s become tradition to visit my Great-Aunt Virg and Uncle Jim in Palm Springs every winter, and boy do we have fun!

Books by the pool, lazy lunches and lots of gin left me with a taste of retired life. What’s better than all that is our time spent catching up. We talked for hours. Los Angeles, love, family, friends and politics… You name it, we discussed it. Aunt Virg always gives the best advice and at 83-years-old, wisdom definitely does transcend generations.

While Aunt Virg is my grandma’s sister, it’s obvious we’re related. I see a lot of her characteristics in me. We both lived overseas, are open minded, adventurous and refuse to settle. She married my Uncle Jim in her 40’s and he was worth the wait. They travel, laugh and love. These two are the epitome of relationship goals. Aunt Virg says to find someone who is your best friend and remember “the best relationships don’t always end in marriage.” Geez, are old people smart or what?

I feel fortunate to have such an amazing family. The memories made during our annual get-together are priceless and I will cherish them always.

What are some of your family traditions?

Looking fine at 59, happy birthday Mom!

From Cabo to China and TC to LA, we sure have fun together. I used to find you weird, embarrassing and totally uncool, but the older I get, the more I realize we’re exactly alike.

Thanks for being the best Mom I could ask for. You’re always there for me, whether it’s boy problems or my inability to bake a baked potato.

Looking forward to another 50 (fingers crossed) years of adventures together!!

Emma

During my stay on Bainbridge Island, I had the pleasure of photographing my beautiful cousin Mollie and her four amazing friends Emma, Paige, Adi and Giselle.

We took a little photo adventure to the waterfront. Overcast skies and sparkling smiles made my job easy. We joked about boys, school and Instagram etiquette, while I snapped away. The result? Over 600 photos. The difficult part? Picking my favorites.

Photographing freshman girls gave me flashbacks to my high school days. I remember taking film photos with my friends. 12 years later, and a development to digital, I’m having just as much fun now as I did in my teens.

Fingers crossed this won’t be the last time I photograph this bunch of beauties. After all, they’ll need senior photos in a few years. (wink, wink)
