Fashion Friday: Ford Fusion

Friday, September 19th, 2014

Tri-Cities might not be the hub of food or fashion, but its remote locations make for idyllic Fashion Friday posts. I planned to photograph this outfit while home, but when I spotted my neighbor Courtney‘s Ford Fusion it turned into a full-blown photo vision.

Thank you Courtney for taking such great photos. I can’t believe five years ago we went on our first photo adventure. You’ve got an eye for photography, so stick with it!

Jumper: The Hanger from Principessa
Hat: Vintage
Necklace: Now-closed DTLA boutique
Rings: Vintage
Lipstick: Vendanges by NARS

Summer’s Over, Surfs Up

Thursday, September 18th, 2014

Summer’s almost over, but September is my favorite month to ride. Something about the glassy water and crisp air make for a perfect wake, or in this case, wave.

I haven’t been on the water since last summer, so when Herrell hollered about boating, I jumped. Two epic days to hold me over until next season. Here’s a few photos from Tuesday night, and an Insta of me riding this beast. Very impressed by the Axis 24 wake.

Thank you again Ryan for the invite, tow, and Raz-Ber-Ita‘s, and thanks to the guys for photos!

Calling all babes of radness! The Blonde Locks is hosting its second BEACH BABE SKATE DAY this Saturday, September 20 in Venice Beach. Ladies, meet at the Venice Pier at 3 PM.

Don’t know how to skate, but itching to learn? Bridget and crew can teach you. No board? No problem. Bridget has a few to borrow.

On the fence and undecided? Take another look at those pictures. We had a blast. Gorgeous weather, good crew and great energy. Fingers crossed BEACH BABE SKATE DAY becomes a monthly event. The girl power is unreal.

If you attend (and you should) make sure to arrive early for parking. Water, snacks and sunscreen are also essential.

Sending skate vibes from the PNW. I hope to be at the November BEACH BABE SKATE DAY!

Fashion, Ferraris and a Political Princess

Monday, September 8th, 2014

I know what you’re thinking, “Political princess? Really Bess?”

No, I’m not that self-absorbed. It’s a nickname given by friends, because they know my passion for politics. I’m attending Reason’s Generation Independent event tomorrow night, so did a little outfit planning.

As a politically active Millennial, I don’t understand why my generation conforms to fashion trends set by our out-of-touch elders. If we want to make changes, let’s stop with the stereotypes. I want to make a name for myself, so why be anyone but my true self? Fashion included.

This post would not have been possible without some help. Thank you Val for letting me borrow this beautiful number. Thank you Adam for taking photos. Lastly, a huge thank you to Tom, my smart, hardworking and incredibly generous friend and business partner. Your car made this shoot! Not sure how an outfit post tops a Ferrari, unless AGE takes off and we charter a Gulfstream…

Outfit deets:

Top and Skirt: BCBG
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Clutch: Vintage
Jacket: Vintage
Sunnies: Ray-Ban
Earrings: Gift from Mendy (asking her the designer)
Ring: Gift from my mom
Lipstick: NARS‘ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Pop Life

Oh, and The Onion has some great news for conservatives.

Grandparent’s Day: RIP Grandpa

Sunday, September 7th, 2014

Grandparent’s Day. I planned to call today. I thought about calling sooner, but life got in the way. I didn’t realize I’d be one day too late.

Last night you became an organ playing, Harley riding angel. I love you Grandpa. RIP.

Never wait to tell someone you love them, miss them, are sorry or are thinking of them. You never know when God has other plans.

Update: I just got off the phone with my Grandma. She told me a story I have to share. It brings me comfort that Grandpa is in a better place.

On Friday, September 5, the day before he passed, Grandpa kept yelling from his hospital bed. “Mom!” “Mother!” The staff didn’t know what to make of it, so shared this information with my grandma. It made perfect sense to her. Grandpa’s mom passed away on September 5, 1980. I truly believe her spirit came and helped him pass on to the afterlife. Some things in life we can’t explain. That’s what I call faith.
