To my Angelenos ringing in the new year, I suggest spending it with Rhonda. She never disappoints.

RIP Fritz

Friday, December 13th, 2013

Yesterday we lost a dear family member and friend, Fritz.

We adopted Fritz the summer after 8th grade. More than a cat, he represented a life transition. My mom and I got Fritz after my parents separated. I played the divorce card and “needed a cat” to help cope.

A little quirky, Fritz ran from strangers. Once he got to know you, he loved you for life. Well, unless you left the country for a year. Then he peed on your down comforter out of fear when you returned. Fritz could usually be found under Mom’s bed or carrying around his stuffed cat.

Fritz’s passing came suddenly. His extreme weight loss prompted a vet visit. The usually skittish Fritz was in so much pain, he didn’t even try to run. X-rays revealed Fritz had cancer and might not last through the weekend. Mom and George stayed with him while he fell into his eternal sleep. Fritz was 12 years old.

Fritz is survived by owners Bess, Mary Jo and George, and his sibling Farley, who until last week still picked on him. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you hug your cat and/or cat loving friends.

First Glimpse

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

Tuesday night I attended First Glimpse and got a sneak peek of the latest goodies by Frends, Silvana K, Lorie Lester and Pretty Glam Special.

Silvana K‘s certified green jewelry stood out. I loved her rings, notably the octopus and doves. All Silvana K’s handcrafted pieces are made in downtown LS, and are lead, nickel and cadmium free.

Pretty Glam Special treated us to lingerie. Let’s just say, my bum backs this brand. Rachael McCrary, curator, knows undies. If you’ve worn them, chances are at some point she’s designed them. Rachael started her own line, and partners with artists and photographers to do unique designs. Each design has a run of only 2000, making these pretty glam undies, extra special.

A special note to Frends, who are my friends. I love their headphones, notably the Taylor, but when I saw the Rebecca Minkoff collaboration in person, I about died. These aren’t your average noise canceling headphones. Frends are made for the fashion forward female. She’s traveling the globe, hitting the slopes or running a business. She’s never alone with her Frends.

Hint Water mixed well for cocktails. Water, fruit and a splash of vodka makes for a low cal drink this holiday season. Make sure to check out all their yummy flavors.

Thank you to Media Playground PR and Emblem Showroom for hosting such a fun event. I look forward to many more of these in 2014!

Toy Drive and Holiday Party

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013

Attention Angelenos, if you’re DTLA tomorrow night, celebrate the holidays for a good cause!

See flyer for deers. Apartment hunting has barely left me time to blog, let alone do anything else!

Side note: if you know a place west of the 405 (ideally Venice or SaMo) lemme know. Cat friendly preferred, garden area a bonus.

Nugz Jewelry

Monday, December 9th, 2013

It’s holiday party season, so who wouldn’t want an arm party with Nugz Jewelry?

Nugz Jewelry is made for layering, one of the many reasons I love it. Their leather and wrap bracelets come in a variety of colors and materials. Bracelets are customizable with interchangeable “nugz” to match your look.

Since you can never wear too much flare, stack up with drop bracelets and beaded spacers. Arm model Sarah (thanks girl!) sports the Clear Faceted Drop, Black Flare Crystal Drop and Black Spacers with metallic silver leather wrap and customized pink nuts.

Holidays are right around the corner, so what better gift to give your BFF, mom, girlfriend or coworker? While her style may change, so will her Nugz!
