Photo of the Day: Day Fifty-Nine

Monday, May 31st, 2010

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day! I passed this little lock while walking home from the post office. Unfortunately I don’t have a holiday today. However, I still haven’t forgotten the meaning of the Memorial Day. Thank you so much to all our troops, past and present, overseas and home. I have the utmost respect for our military men and women because it is something I certainly could never do. In a weird sense, I think this lock represents the strength of our military. Over time, buildings may fall and colors may fade, but the United States military will always be there. Standing strong, bright and ready to fight.

Thank you again to all our troops!!

Roost Industries: Final Logo One

Monday, May 31st, 2010

I just finalized my top three logos for Roost Industries. All of the logos must appeal to our target audience, middle-aged business professionals. We also want our design to appeal to young entrepreneurs. The logo must be smooth, modern and futuristic. Our three main colors are red, black and gray. Red represents strength, passion and vitality. Black represents seriousness, distinctiveness, boldness and a classic feel. Gray shows somberness, authority, practicality and a corporate mentality. Our design strategy contains three elements: simple, professional, reliable.

Here is the first of three potential logos for Roost Industries. Look closely at the “R” to see if you can spot the hidden design elements.

I’m going to post the other two logos in the next couple of days, so check back and help Scott decide on his logo!

What do you think of this logo? How about the font?

Photo of the Day: Day Fifty-Eight

I saw this little man running around my street. His personality reminded me of my dad’s dog Aileron. When he finally laid down I snapped his picture, making happy dogs everywhere my POTD.

This is where I’ve lived for the last eight months. It is still so hard to believe I only have three weeks left. I’m starting to get stressed thinking about what to do next. When I’m not stressed I’m being an emotional, hormonal female reflecting on my amazing China adventure. Something tells me I’m going to write a pretty powerful blog when I’m flying back to the States. Then and only then will it actually hit me that I’m coming home.

Or am I coming home? Expats speak of this “China Curse” where the city sucks you in. I can certainly see myself here for another year or so. There is too much to see, do, taste and experience. As long as I am in China, my friends always have a place to stay. I’ll keep everyone posted as to my plans and once I know where I’ll be, you can book your tickets to visit me!

Fashion Forward Faces: Midi Scenester

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

This is my final fashion forward face from Midi Music Festival. This guy’s style wraps up Midi fashion to a tee. Rolled skinny jeans, tight flannel, Ray-Bans, necklaces, old man shoes and argyle socks. Throw in the gold watch and dark beer and he could totally be a Portland hipster!

What do you think about this guy’s outfit? I am loving it.
