Mom and I are on our way back to rainy Seattle. Boo! Here’s one last snapshot of sunshine in the Phoenix, Arizona airport. Weren’t we just leaving for Cabo, like a week ago? It’s true, time flies when you’re having fun. Or lounging by a pool…

Access denied! Well, unless you’re Mendy, then access is granted… To Boise State! Congrats on your acceptance to BSU!! Now you can watch a football team that actually wins :]
p.s. At this time in three weeks I will be flying back to the States. Where did my time go!?

It’s rather ironic that taxi cabs are my POTD.
This morning I had a meeting at 9 am. This is definitely rush hour in the city, so by 8 I was on the street hailing a cab. The first two cabs didn’t know the location of my meeting and after another ten minutes without success, I started walking to the subway station. At my subway stop I walked, and walked, and walked. Everyone kept giving me different directions to the hotel. I finally took a cab, only to realize my hotel was literally at the end of the block. No complaints though, I made it just in the knick of time.
After my meeting I needed to get to work. I wanted to get there as fast as possible so I opted to take a cab. This time, I saw lots of cabs. Success, right? Wrong. One cabbie (with his meter paused) said 80 RMB to take me home. Are you serious? I told him in Chinese I live here, you’re ripping me off. The next cab was empty and I approached him for a ride. He waved me off and gave me the stink eye, before picking up some Chinese people who ran up after me. To top it off, he then laid on the horn because I was a foot in the street and apparently it’s too much work to drive around. What is with people this morning!?
I gave up and took the subway home, only to find my street lined with cabs. Go figure. Cabbies, this POTD is for you.

Even with the tiny quarters, squat pot bathroom and muggy train air, we wouldn’t trade our adventure for anything!

Here’s Mendy and I in our tiny sleeper car. There are six people per sleeper section, our train had 12 sections, so that’s 72 people per train cart. In other words, Mendy and I had the personal space of a coffin for 23 hours.
We did a lot of magazine reading, post card writing and sleeping. I also snapped some great photos of the countryside.
If you want to see our tiny space please click the link below. I made a song about our adventure. It’s awesome. Enjoy!
