Fashion Friday 2/18/2011

Friday, February 18th, 2011

It’s another glorious Fashion Friday!

What makes this Fashion Friday different from others? It’s my first time in shorts for 2011. I couldn’t believe today’s weather. Sunny, warm and definitely shorts-worthy. In fact, I even washed my car in shorts, a hoodie and rain boots. Spring is on its way!

The warm weather and clear skies make me even more exited for LA. Mother Nature is teasing me… And I love it.

Tee: Elton John Concert (Mom’s Weekend ’08)

Red Hot Valentine

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

The number of guys vibing my red lips really caught me off guard! I’m always slightly self-consious when trying new makeup, especially because I’m such a makeup minimalist.

For this shoot, like most my shoots, I turned on music, turned on the auto timer and just danced. The results? These photos. In case you haven’t yet realized, I’m a dancing fool. Throwing arms. Grabbing hair. Shaking it like nobody’s business. That is Bess Beezy on the dance floor.

To have people request to see more photos is flattering, so thank you! Back by popular demand, a little more red hot Valentine :]

Photo of the Day: Day Three Hundred Eighteen

Monday, February 14th, 2011

“Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.”
-Gwyneth Paltrow

Preach girlfriend. Something about red lips today made me feel like an animal. Maybe it’s because I barely recognized myself. Hmmm… Future alter ego, red hot vixen?

Ladies, I know what you think about red lipstick, but what about the guys? Red lips: hot or not?

Ugly Christmas Sweater DIY

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Holiday parties are in full swing and a common theme is ugly sweaters. What constitutes an ugly sweater and where do you find one? I believe “ugly” is open to interpretation, but I’m partial to thrift store finds with a ton of holiday crap on them. Think snowmen, reindeer, lights, the works. What’s the only thing better than a vintage holiday sweater? A custom DIY’d vintage holiday sweater.

I don’t usually do DIY blogs, I leave that to DIY master Teresa, but after the success of this “ugly sweater” I decided to chronicle my next project.

My friend Kris needs an ugly sweater for a party next weekend. He’s in Ukraine this week so won’t have enough time to shop around. After seeing my ridiculously awesome custom sweater, he wanted one of his own. I started brainstorming and made a Goodwill run.

I walked into Goodwill and headed to the holiday garb. Balls are cheap (pun intended) so I stocked up. Next I browsed the sweater aisle. I found this sweet Kodak sweater (I almost kept it for myself) tagged “Professional Camera Wear.” Does such a thing exist? Apparently so. Making this sweater is relatively easy, but very time consuming. For over two hours I slaved away like a Chinese laborer, sewing ball after ball. I tried to balance the color, material and shape of the balls. The end result? One custom 3D sweater!

Will Kris have enough balls to wear this next weekend!? Who else is going to an ugly sweater party? What’s the ugliest (or most creative) sweater you’ve seen?

Doug Dove Fashion Photos

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Here are a few photos from last night’s photo shoot with Doug Dove.

Doug is without a doubt, a fashion genius. I’ve never in my life been so envious of a man’s wardrobe. Doug is big into thrift shopping and his closet is packed with Dior, YSL, Givenchy and numerous other designers guaranteed to make many jealous. For this shoot he’s wearing a vintage Dior cardigan and belt, and carrying a vintage Ted Lapidus bag.

We went to a spot by the Yakima River to take these photos. The light rocked. Unfortunately the mosquitos didn’t. I guess sometimes you have to make sacrifices to get a good shot!
