Snapped this sunset last week. It somehow got lost in my photo files, so I’m posting it now. Does anyone else remember this pre-Halloween sunset? I remember seeing a few Instagrams…
Any other things that cannot be concealed for long?

Driving home tonight I felt a weird mix of emotions. I felt motivated, eager, excited, independent and inspired. The wheels in my head would not stop turning. Then I turned. I turned down Sixth.
Driving down East Sixth Street I saw practically a small community of homeless people. Pitched tents blocked sidewalks. People pushed piled grocery carts. Passing homeless residents, many looked down to avoid eye contact, only to seem surprised when I said hi and acknowledged their existence. At one point I said aloud, “Wow… This is America.” The image of so many homeless people, paired with a picturesque California sunset, is a mental picture I won’t soon forget.
Downtown Los Angeles, once a power house for the West Coast, is now a hub for homeless residents. (No offense, there are a TON of homeless people here. Even compared to Seattle and Portland.) The DWC provides over 50,000 meals a year to more than 2,500 homeless or low-income women alone annually. 2,500 women!? That is a small corporation. A workforce of homeless Los Angeles residents.
How can we turn the problem of the homeless into a solution for the city? Like I said, the wheels in my head are spinning…

Sunsets like this make me wonder why I’m leaving Tri-Cities for LA…
Oh yeah, now I remember. Sun, sand, surf and a job!

While wandering Venice Beach this afternoon I noticed an architectural structure. I recognized the deep bowls, structured stairs and curved concrete. I felt a sense of familiarity that reminded me of home. Then it hit me. This 17,000 square-foot skatepark is designed by Wormhoudt Incorporated!
I first found out about Wormhoudt Inc. in November when I photographed my friend Jared at their Richland park. I wanted skate pictures for my portfolio. After posting the images to my site, Wormhoudt’s Project Manager, Craig, contacted me. They wanted to use my pictures for their site. Ummm… How could I say no!?
I don’t really skate, but I love action sports. It’s undoubtedly some of my favorite photography. I’m now on the hunt for Wormhoudt, hoping to expand my portfolio and skate photography skills. If I’m in a city where they’ve built a park, I’m going photograph it. Maybe someday I’ll check off Poland and Israel off my list?
