Alexander Restaurant

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Tonight Mom and I ate dinner on the marina at a restaurant called Alexander Restaurant. Our meal was so good I had to blog about it.

We started our meal with a delicious tortilla soup. The broth was a rich and flavorful but didn’t leave you feeling stuffed. Chunks of avocado and crispy tortilla strips set this soup apart from others. Mom described Alexander’s tortilla soup as “the best tortilla soup I’ve ever eaten in my life.”

For our main course we split the coconut shrimp. This dish easily filled us up. For only 15 dollars we got five jumbo coconut shrimp, rice and veggies. Certainly a great bang for your buck.

If you want to eat at Alexander Restaurant, check out the famous Cabo San Lucas marina. You can’t miss it. It’s right on the restaurant strip at Blvd. Marina s/7 Centro Interior Plaza Bonita 23450. If you still can’t find Alexander’s call 624.143.2022. Good scenery and great food make for an epic night!

Cabo San Lucas: Día Cuatro

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Mom and I spent another day swimming, tanning and sipping on cocktails. What else do you expect us to do? This is Mexico!

We started our morning with workouts, mom went to the gym and I did yoga. After working up a sweat and feeling fit, we went to the pool for almost five hours. This evening we went to a guest dinner party for free chips and dip. Unfortunately arrived late, so almost everything was picked over. Undeterred, we headed to town for dinner, drinks, shopping and local nightlife.

During the dinner party we noticed manta rays jumping out of the water (see picture five). I could’ve believe how many we saw jump. I did some research on manta rays and why they jump out of the water. According to ReefQuest, manta rays jump to communicate, court a mate or rid themselves of parasites.

Our time in Mexico is going by entirely too fast. Tomorrow marks the halfway point of our vacation. Noooo! On another note, I got a nasty sunburn/heat rash today. Apparently my tan accelerator worked a little too well. Not hot and the ultimate suntan FAIL.

*While shopping tonight, the girl who rang up my purchase guessed my age. She thought I was 15 or 16! Do I seriously look like a minor? Are the (few) guys who date me pedophiles? What the – !?

Nik-San Sushi

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Tonight Mom and I ate at one of my all-time favorite sushi restaurants, Nik-San.

We dined on Philadelphia, Spicy Special and Tempura Shrimp Rolls as well as Alaska Salmon nigiri. We also ate miso soup as an appetizer.

Being in a fishing city like Cabo, the sushi is guaranteed fresh. In fact, at Nik-San if you hook it they’ll cook it.

Nik-San is undoubtedly the best sushi restaurant in Cabo San Lucas. However, it isn’t just the flavor that makes it famous. Nik-San is recognized around the word for its “stylistic sushi and seafood dishes.”

If you’re in Cabo and you like sushi, this is a restaurant you cannot miss. Nik-San is located on Blvd. Marina lote 10 local 2 in the Plaza de la Danza. If you get lost, just ask people to point you towards the Dairy Queen. To ensure you get a table, it’s always best to make reservations at 624.14.324.91. Delicioso!

Cabo San Lucas: Día Tres

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Mom and I are loving our time in Cabo San Lucas. We can’t believe we’re already onto our third full day. This afternoon we did a little more sun tanning followed by shopping and dinner.

Mom is considering an opal bracelet that I think is overpriced. We also stopped by The General Store to pick up our favorite tequila, Aha Toro, that retails for almost $70 in the States. Tomorrow we have another day of R&R, followed by massages on Wednesday. Life is great. Hmmm… I wonder what kind of design jobs they have in Cabo?

Oh yeah, and to everyone who made fun of my pale skin last week, you’d better start eating your words. My French skin is soaking up the sun!

*I don’t usually post bikini pics on my blog because a) I’m not a narcissist and b) there are some serious creeps on the internet. However, after six months of healthy eating and nightly yoga, I’m pretty proud of my bikini body.

Timeshare Tours

Monday, June 28th, 2010

It is tradition for my mom and I to tour timeshares in Cabo. While we enjoy looking at other hotels, we don’t just do it for fun. I’ll be honest, we do it for the free stuff. This morning my mom and I toured Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach.

The Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is located on the western side of the Baja Peninsula and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The resort is located on 50-acres and includes 327 rooms, a private beach, a full European style spa, a fully equipped gym, multiple pools including a sky pool, a chapel and ocean views from every room.

The Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is the epitome of luxury and it’s got the awards to back it. It is rated as one of the top ten Mexican resorts by Travel + Leisure Magazine. Condé Nast Traveler Gold List named Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach as one of the best places in the world to stay. AAA awarded it a Four Star Diamond Award. The resort also received the Environmental Quality Award.

Seeing the nice amenities is always important while touring a timeshare, but a great guide can make or break the deal. Our tour guide Ian did an outstanding job. He was knowledgeable, courteous and genuinely believed in the company he was selling. Honestly, Ian made it hard to turn down such an amazing offer. If we weren’t already owners we would’ve been sold.

If you’re in Cabo San Lucas and looking to relax on private beaches, indulge in spa treatments or eat the best of the best cuisine, I encourage you to check out Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. It is an amazing resort with something for everyone. Also, if you’re looking to invest in property in Cabo San Lucas please tour here before you make a final decision. Make sure to ask for Ian and bring your credit card. You’ll probably leave a timeshare owner!

Photo of the Day: Day Eighty-Seven

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Last night after I finished uploading my daily blogs, Mom suggested photographing the full(ish) moon. I can’t pass up a picture opportunity, especially night photos. Something about them is so surreal to me. I threw on clothes, grabbed my camera and tripod, and set off into the black abyss.

We wandered around the pool area taking night shots (the lights looked amazing) before heading to the cliffs to take more photos. I set my ISO at 100 and played around with different brackets. Leaving the shutter open for a long period of time allowed for the blurred wave effect. I also like that you can see the moon and stars in this shot. Since I snapped this photo after midnight, I’m making it Monday’s POTD.

*Click on the photo to enlarge it. You’ll see the details much better that way.
