Work Weekend

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Work, work, work. Whistle while you work.

Work consumed my weekend, so much so I missed Fashion Friday and a blogger event. Once again, no complaints though. I love what I’m doing and let’s face it, cash flow is crucial.

My once empty schedule now starts to fill up, practically weeks in advance. I’ve color coded iCal into five calendars. If I could stay awake all day and all night, I still wouldn’t have time for everything. I’m on overdrive and its unreal.

While work dominated my life, here’s a few photos to give you an idea of what’s considered “work” these days. Who says you can’t make a living doing what you love?

Fashion Forward Faces: Summer Style

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

My friend Mel stopped by this afternoon and I’m glad she did. Her look is the epitome of Northwest summer fashion. It reminded me that even at home I must always be on the look for fashion forward faces.

I love the laid back look and feel of Mel’s jean shorts and vintage Led Zepplin T. When asked where she found such a perfect shirt Mel said, “I have no idea where it came from. It just sort of showed up at my house.”

The clothes don’t just make the look, it’s the hair and makeup too. Mel drove over with wet hair and her windows down. The result? Amazingly perfect windblown tresses. No makeup is needed when you’re a) naturally beautiful like Mel and b) tan.

Summertime is not the time for sky high heels or caked on makeup. Embrace your natural beauty. Rock the boat blown hair. Appreciate the glisten of your slightly balmy skin. As Anne Lamott once said, “Joy is the best makeup.” Preach!

Fashion Forward Faces: Pink Pants

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

As much as I live in leggings, I love with this girl’s modified pink leggings. Actually I love her whole outfit. Her sunnies, off-the-shoulder shirt, studded bag, pants and shoes are amazing. I would without a doubt wear this outfit.

I live in all black. How do you add color to an otherwise monochromatic outfit?

Fashion Forward Faces: Sisi Style

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Today my coworker Sisi (pronounced CC) looked too cute for words, so I’m making her my fashion forward face. I asked everyone to wear something that “represents them” for our group photo. When I walked into work I fell in love with her outfit. I love the jumper, her tights actually have a leopard print in them, her heels are fierce and she’s perfectly accessorized. It’s outfits like these that inspire me to try new looks with what I already own. Thank you Sisi, if you don’t mind I’m taking this fashion forward look to the States!

What do you think of Sisi’s outfit? Does anyone have tips for pulling off jumpers this summer?

Fashion Forward Faces: Punk

Do I even need an explanation for this blog? Umm… No. This kid proves that punk styles (and attitudes) are global.

Fashion Forward Faces: Tibetan Flair

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

This girl’s outfit is so totally kooky, I love it. Maybe I’m just partial to her outfit because she had such a great personality. She and her boyfriend were super outgoing, nice, and just one of those sickeningly cute couples. This is another outfit I certainly couldn’t pull off. I do however like her Ray-Bans and I might be able to pull off the Tibetan style boots. For now, I’m leaving this look in China as a Fashion Forward Face.

Do you have friends that wear crazy outfits, and you just don’t care because they’re that awesome? I know I do.

Fashion Forward Faces: Virgin Fashion

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I’ve actually seen this shirt in the States, so technically he isn’t considered fashion forward. I snapped this guy’s photo because I liked his dreds, funny shirt and tattoos. More that that, I liked his “too cool for school” attitude. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. In China, you can wear whatever you want, as long as you’ve got confidence. I’ve developed this mantra and I’m bringing it back to the States.

Btw, something tells me this isn’t the type of guy you bring home to meet Dad… Dad? Thoughts on this ever-so-angelic fellow? Friends, how do you exude confidence when others might critique your outfit?
