Elm & Olympia Photos

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

Gah, I’ve been too busy to do much of anything lately, let alone edit photos. Sorry to everyone, especially the guys at Elm & Olympia who’ve been anxiously awaiting pictures from this shoot!

We got a few decent pictures, but (not blaming the boys) Teresa sums this shoot up perfectly here. The guys aren’t models and we need to break them out of their shell. After reviewing these photos, they see what changes to make (mainly to their attire, poses and confidence). We plan to implement the aforementioned changes on another shoot soon. In addition to these pictures, I snapped photos of the boys in their element jamming out last weekend and last night.

In the meantime, enjoy these über Northwest shots. Do you have any suggestions so the guys look less awkward? What about guy band photos? Locations? Lighting? Attire? The guys want to appear as “manly” as possible and posing for photos definitely takes them out of their comfort zone!

I know what you’re thinking. “Bess, why the hell are you lying facedown in the middle of a band practice!?”

I’m participating in Work It LA‘s soon-to-be-famous Lying Down Game. What is this Lying Down Game and why should you participate? The game encourages participants to lie down wherever they feel necessary. Forget about germs, people or awkward encounters. If you need to lie down, do it. And snap a picture. Send it in for a chance to win and get a (not specified) special prize!

Thanks to the boys at Elm & Olympia for letting me lie down in the middle of band practice. This POTD was planned (hello, spacing and equipment) but the bottom picture was not, as proven by the looks on their faces. Priceless.

Need to lie down? Do it and submit your pictures to WorkItLA@gmail.com for a chance to win. Happy lays!

Eclectic Approach, Elm & Olympia Show February 5, 2011

Monday, January 31st, 2011

If you’re in Tri-Cities, be there!

Unfortunately I’ll be in Seattle so I can’t make it. Elm & Olympia better record their demo soon, so I have music to listen to when I’m away.

Incase you can’t read the details, I’ll post the actual flier I designed tomorrow. We’ve started promoting with handbills. Want to help hype the show? Get ahold of me here!

Gah, I’ve been so behind on life lately. Sorry for not posting my POTD’s, there’s a few coming.

This morning I went out with the guys from Elm & Olympia to take band pictures. They recently added a fourth member, Chase McClendon, to the group. Chase fills in the gaps with rhythm guitar and vocals.

After listening to the guys practice, I agree, Chase is a great addition. The band sounds more full and from what I’ve been told, Chase has great chemistry with the group.

Excited to hear them perform? Me too! They’re playing this Friday at the Rock Reactor in Downtown Kennewick. Get there early to get a good table. Who knows? Maybe the band will have a guest tambourine player!? (Hint: it’s me)

Today’s POTD is a little snapshot from my night adventure with J.J.

Elm & Olympia and I are trying to coordinate a shoot, but with conflicting schedules it’s not easy. I conned J.J. into a photo adventure saying he “needs to practice his poses” and he’ll “pull chicks with a hot default.” So… Any takers ladies?

Thank you J.J. for going along with my photo vision! This is just the first of many great shoots. Any ideas for Elm & Olympia’s band shoot? The guys want something different that “doesn’t look like a Christian album cover.” There you have it folks.
