Photo of the Day: Day Three Hundred Fifty Four

Hey Vans, be on the lookout. Courtney Jette is entering your customized shoe contest and her kicks kick the competition out of the water!

Courtney assisted me on an engagement shoot tonight and I couldn’t help but notice her rad DIY’d shoes. At the end of our set, and with some sunlight left, we went to the park for photos. Courtney told me about the contest and I couldn’t have been happier to help photograph her shoes.

She basically tie-dyed white canvas Vans with three colors. It’s a simple concept, so we’re surprised the company hasn’t done this before. Courtney said she wore them into a Vans store and the employees couldn’t get enough. Neither can her friends. She’s got orders coming out her ears and, well, for a 16-year-old that’s a pretty high overhead. The only solution? Vans needs to make these shoes!

Would you rock tie-dyed Vans? I know I would. My biggest dilemma would be the color combination. I love the yellow, green and blue, but am also a fan of Rasta colors. What colors would you like to see Vans produce?

Another day, another photo lesson with Courtney!

I’m so sleep deprived I’m delusional and can’t write. I’ll add more photos from this excursion tomorrow. For now, I’m hitting the sack in hopes of having photo visions. Sweet dreams!

Photos with Courtney

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

This afternoon my neighbor Courtney and I ventured out into the glorious sunshine to take a few photos.

Actually, Courtney wants to learn about photography and allegedly her brother Kelly won’t take the time to teach her. Hmmm… Sounds a few boys I know (although my dilemma is wakeboard tricks). Regardless, I am happy to take this photo grom under my wing.

Courtney is home schooled, which is perfect for my freelance lifestyle. We’ve already started making a list of lessons to cover. This was Courtney’s first time shooting with an SLR and she’s certainly got the natural talent. I’m excited to share my knowledge and have another photo companion.

Today Courtney said she had “some fashion ideas that my brother says are silly.” Ummm… Girlfriend have you seen who you’re talking to? Stay tuned, things are going to get good.
