After a long, lazy, sun-filled day at the pool, what could be better for dinner in Venice? Happy Hour at Baja Cantina!
Mom and I came to Baja Cantina after hearing positive WOM (word of mouth) reviews. After experiencing the food, I can see why. We ordered margaritas off the Happy Hour menu, which consisted of a variety of food for only $4.99. We also munched on chips and salsa waiting to order. Usually I don’t like salsa, but the salsa here is especially good. The hot and salty chips hit the spot after a long day at the pool.
For dinner we ordered a burrito (which I cannot remember the name of) and fish tacos. Coming from Eastern Washington, an area with a high hispanic population, I’ve eaten my fair share of burritos. This burrito blew the others out of the water. The combo of rice, beans, pork and green sauce didn’t overpower my palate like the cheese-drenched burritos from home. Mom said it’s probably the best burrito she’s ever eaten. The fish tacos were great too, but small portions. If you’re hungry, order the burrito. Or fill up on chips and margaritas.
My only complaint for Baja Cantina is the service. Our waitress wasn’t bad, but Mom said, “our raven haired waitress seemed less-than-happy to serve us.” Observing other staff at the restaurant, maybe we just got a grump?
Baja Cantina is located at 311 Washington Boulevard and Happy Hour is from 3 to 7 PM. This place gets packed, especially on game days. Flat screens aired baseball games and the NBA playoffs and cute surfer boys packed the bar. (hint, hint to all my single ladies) Walk if you can, because the margaritas are stiff, cheap and delicious!
