Stop Crime. Outlaw Toy Guns.

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.

2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

3. Colt: The original point and click interface.

4. Gun control is not about guns; it’s about control.

5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.

7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.

8. If you don’t know your rights, you don’t have any.

9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.

10. The United States Constitution (c)1791. All Rights Reserved.

11. What part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand?

12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

14. Guns only have two enemies: rust and politicians.

15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.

16. You don’t shoot to kill: you shoot to stay alive.

17. 911: Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.

18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.

19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.

20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.

21. Only a government afraid of its citizens tries to control them.

22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.

23. When you remove the people’s right to bear arms, you create slaves.

24. The America Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

25. The USDOJ sells guns to Mexican drug cartels.

Only Detroit could think banning toy guns will solve crime.

Theyskens’ Theory at NYFW

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Was anyone else as underwhelmed about NYFW as I?

I get it, runway isn’t everyday, but when I look at a piece, I’d like to at least imagine it wearable. Of all the outfits spotted for F/W ’12-’13, this Theyskens’ Theory (a designer I’d never even heard of until now) stood out as my favorite, and it’s not even from the runway, but pre-fall. I. Am. Obsessed.

Why? Is it because of the practicality? The color? The total “I’m-trying-but-not” look? Who knows, but you can bet this all-black babe will be rocking something similar (hello, $400 pants are out of my price range) in the near future.

If you haven’t heard of Theyskens’ Theory, I suggest you check them out. Every article looks top notch. Total class and high-quality. Not to mention, IMO, the pieces are totally wearable. Not your totally trendy, “out”-by-next-season item.

Any other looks that stood out? Please include links, because I’ve scoured blogs and found everything blah.

Update: I realized tonight why I I dig this… Reminds me of the softest sweatsuit eva.

Tell me…

You’re broke.

You’re hungry.

You don’t have anything.

Life sucks.

You hate your car.

There’s nothing to wear.

You look gross.

Work is boring.

The government owes you.

You need new _________.

Our generation doesn’t know poor. Unless we stop the uncontrollable spending, we will.

Thanks for sharing Brad, this is the truth!

I go to yoga, shop, smoke and sleep. Ok, I might also binge eat candy while laughing at the unhappiness of my ex. Can you blame me?

Loners, what do you do on Singles Awareness Day Valentine’s Day?

Project Guyfriend

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

The following post is complete satire, unless it works. In which case, I’m dead serious.

Last Valentine’s Day I blogged about not wanting a boyfriend, but a guyfriend. Fast forward a year and, well, I’m still on the hunt. My career in marketing got me thinking. When a client has a need, they turn to the field. Talk with people. Examine their thoughts, habits, likes, dislikes. In other words, do research.

Can this research be applied to the dating field? I’m not sure, but I went there. Yes, that’s right. I created, what we refer to in marketing as, a screener. Can you screen for a guyfriend? I’m not sure, but if dating turned into real life marketing research, this would be my ultimate guyfriend screener.

The only thing you can’t find in a marketing screener? Chemistry. (le sigh) So the search continues…
