Showing some love to my favorite salon, retail boutique and event space, The Well.

The Well is without a doubt the best place in LA to get your hair done, snag some new threads and party your face off. Top LA brands like Unif, Clover Canyon and AGAIN adorn the racks. They also carry unique vintage gems like Vivienne Westwood and COMME des GARCONS. Need a trim or touchup? Jefferson is all Davines, all business and the best. As for parties, you never know who they’ll bring in. Juicy J and Gaslamp Killer are just two of The Well’s performing artists.

If you’re downtown LA tomorrow, stop by The Well for a sneak preview of their Spring 2013 arrivals. They’ll feature releases from Tovar, Publish Bright Future and many more. Complimentary drinks and snacks will get your weekend started right.

Dress well. Stay well. I love The Well.

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

Sending lots of love from NYC and The Cultue of Me. Here’s a few snaps from Le Bain on Saturday. Fools Gold knows how to throw it down.

Met two really rad ladies as well. Masha, from LA, and Aimee, a recent NYC transplant from SF. Needless to say, I am amped on my bi-coastal friendships.

Click here to scope the entire set from Swimming With Sharks.

*Huge thanks to Jane for this vintage patriotic number. Let’s just say it got me noticed! ;]

Don’t Go Home

Love this ad campaign from Cole Haan.

Took a peep at their latest collection. Coupled with these ads, it makes me think Cole Haan is trying to reach a younger demographic. If they need any design advice, I might know a girl who loves shoes…

Go with the bad boy. #DontGoHome

MADE Mother’s Day

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Mother’s Day is Sunday and what better gift to give, than one that keeps giving?

If you’re in Los Angeles, stop by the MADE Cafe and pick up a one-of-a-kind gift, made by residents of the Downtown Women’s Center. Candles, rebound books, travel pouches, earrings and more, make great gifts for Mom. One hundred percent of the proceeds go back to DWC. Does it get any better? Yes.

Hungry? Try a tasty treat made by another local social enterprise, Homeboy Industries‘ bakery. We also have the best dirty chai in Los Angeles. Bold statement, I know, but stop by MADE and ask for Luke. He knows his stuff.

Don’t have time to get downtown? Worried about shipping? Don’t fret. Click here and donate for Mom. She’ll get a handmade card from DWC residents. Skip the overpriced flowers and fragrances. A $100 donation provides one day of lunch to roughly 200 women.

Happy Mother’s Day to DWC moms, LA moms, friends that are moms and my mom!

*A belated happy birthday to MADE! I can’t believe it’s been one year since I stumbled upon such a special place. Thank you Yvette for sending me the initial grand opening email. Thank you to Annah, Luke, Steven, Catherine and all of the MADE/DWC crew. The feeling I get volunteering indescribable. I look forward to another year at MADE and watching our community blossom!

Roy Teeluck NYC

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

If you’re in NYC and in need of a cut, color, trim or style, look no furter than Roy Teeluck.

I had the pleasure of meeting Roy at Cristophe Salon in Beverly Hills a couple months back. Roy came to LA to promote his new hair collagen (which is amazing, might I add) and offer complimentary scalp treatments. Mia, Roy’s assistant, gave me the best blowout of my life. Naturally being back in the Big Apple, I wanted to stop by the salon and see firsthand how a top shop operates.

Roy Teeluck isn’t just a salon, it’s an experience. Staff greet you upon entry, offer drinks and check your coat. You’re even given the option of changing shirts for your treatment, because we all know there’s nothing worse than water down your back during a wash. Mia gave me a scalp treatment and after a month in NY, a much needed head massage. She literally massaged away my headache. Shab styled my mane, which is in dire need of some TLC. She gave me tips to get a bigger blowout with less damage. I will be taking these tips to LA, in hopes of recreating her Victoria’s Secret voluminous hair.

Check out Roy Teeluck on 57th and Madison or click here for directions. After a horrible hair mishap, I don’t trust many people touching my hair. I can say with confidence, everyone at Roy Teeluck is top notch and does wonderful work. I miiiight even be heading in this evening for a drastic pre-Coachalla cut. You’ll have to wait and see.
