40 Day Dream

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

Do I even need to explain?

I feel like the last 40 days have been a dream. Rhonda. Whitney’s death. Valentine’s Day. Grammy events. MADE. Mom’s visit. Going on two weeks in New York City

Missing my West Coast crew, but I don’t plan to wake up anytime soon. See you guys in dreamland, and hopefully on the best coast before Coachella.

Right: Lady Gaga circa 2011

Thanks Mom for sending this over! Anyone else have celebrities copying their awesomely bad ’90s attire?

*Side note: I don’t really think Gaga copied my look.

Flearock

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

I met this fellow whilst photographing Black Banditz tonight. I’d say he can count a beat or two.

Flearock, or as I met him Oren, is an undeniably talented breakdancer. Seeing these videos got me thinking. I love dance. I love photography. Why not combine the two?

Photo visions are free flowing and I’m excited to put something together. Who knows, maybe I can pick up a few new 8-counts!?

On a totally unrelated note: meeting awesome people like Flearock is reason 9,572,053,204,137 why I moved to LA.

Black Swan

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I hate going to the movies. Theaters are usually cold, someone always makes side comments and I can’t help but think of the germs on the chairs. Yuck. I managed to put my hatred aside and finally see Black Swan. I’m glad I did because I cannot get enough.

From Natalie Portman‘s pointe portrayal of Nina Sayers to Rodarte‘s stunning tutu’s, this psychological thriller is sure to take home a couple Oscars.

As to be expected with any dance flick, it made me miss my performing days. Maybe once the new Gold’s opens I’ll throw on my ballet slippers and bust out a few moves in the aerobic room. Besides, I need a new dance photo for my gallery. Any requests? Turns, leaps, tilts?

Have you seen Black Swan? Likes? Dislikes? What do you think about Rodarte being snubbed for a Best Costume Oscar!?

Runaway

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

As a dancer, I am obsessed with this video.

I hate Kanye West but I love his creativity. Prior to seeing this music video, I envisioned some sort of modern dance. Then again, that’s how I interpret a lot of songs: through dance.

If you’re a dancer, music fan, or creative soul, take a few minutes to watch this video. As for me, I’m doing an interpretive dance right meow.

Richland High Regionals Football

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Two weeks ago I attended Richland High’s regional football playoffs. My friend Ryan (also known as Willo) is an assistant coach and helped me score field access for photos. Thank you so much Willo!

I don’t really watch, play or follow football. This means I have no idea who we played, which players do what and the final score. I do, however, know dance, and I love watching my Goldrush dance team get their kick on. Tonight the girls performed a kick routine. I soon realized how hard it is to watch the technical aspects of a dance from behind a lens. From what I saw and the pictures I took, the team looks great. I hope to photograph them again during basketball season.

I danced for RHS from 2002-2005. In that time period we won one state title, two national titles, and a slew of other awards and achievements. Being back on the field/track felt surreal. I flashed back to my high school days of green and gold. Heck, get me some spandex and a Bomber Dance top and I would perform with Goldrush in a heartbeat!

If you could relive high school, knowing what you know now, would you?
